The quarter’s history is colorful and rich: in the past, the territory was marked by peat extractions, functioned as a location for the gallows, and harbored customs stations for the shipping industry. From the 19th century on, the heavy and petrochemical industries grew more and more important in the North. Over time, Amsterdam Noord grew to be the most important industrial area of the entire city.

Individual exploration with Incredible Amsterdam We booked an individual tour, 3 hours city centre and AMS North by bike. Very nice, informative guided tours through Amsterdam In total we had booked 4 tours with Incredible Amsterdam. We particularly enjoyed the bike and food tour with Nina, but the red light tour, the Jordaan tour and the canal tour were also very nice. All the guides are very knowledgeable and tell you a lot about life in Amsterdam. We really enjoyed our time with Incredible Amsterdam.
